Monett speedway ‘opens tonight 'MONETT — The Monett 1 Speedway will open its gates on a 1 weekly basis today at 6 p.m., according to Terry W. Douthitt, manager. ‘Douthitt said that hot-lapping will commence at 7:40 p.m. with I races to get under way at 8 p.m.The Monett surface has a new layer of more than 900 yards of lt;clay, Douthitt said. The project 1 was completed the week following the early special * Spring Championship at the lt;speedway.The track’s plumbing has also * been revamped and the main water truck has been fitted with I a new engine to set things into a 1 fresh, smooth start.Wreckers, push trucks, por- 1 table welders and other service vehicles are welcome in the pit area. Douthitt said that two ( persons will be allowed freeadmittance with these vehicles. *■
