H Are HomelessIn ifake Of FireFRANKLINTON. April 17—(U.R) —At least 27 persons were made homeless and three business houses were destroyed in a $50,000 fire which swept the business district of this village early today.Chief of Police F, W. Carter said that the Whitaker building, which houses seven apartments 'on its second floor, was destroyed, along with $1,100 in cash which two a-partment dwellers had placed in trunks.The fire also badly damaged Allen's Grill, the Franklinton BeautyShop and the city Sports and Soda Shop.Carter said that the damage probably would have been heavier had it not been for the assistance of the Camp Butner and Henderson Fire Departments.
