THREE MEN INJURED AS ENGINE AND CARS ARE WRECKED. Abilene- Southern combination passenger-freight train, a short line of the T. P. Railway company, which operates from Abilene to Ballinger, was derail ed at the Franklin crossing at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning. Three members of the crew re ceived slight injury and the en gine was badly damaged. J. M. McCord, engineer, mir aculously escaped death as he crawled from the overturned en gine through escaping steam, re ceived severe scalds. The fire man, W. N. Foster suffered a bruised hip and the conductor, Ira Dorton, minor, injuries. The trio received emergency treat ment here and were returned to their homes at Abilene. Dirt left on the track by a road-dragging crew was blamed for the derailment of the engine and two cars. All cars were emp ties which were being returned to the main line of the railway company. The tracks were cleared of the wreckage by 4 o’clock Sun day morning by the wrecker which was sent out from Big Spring.
