At the last Regular Session—Manatee Wants a New Building. Bradentown, Fla. April, 1913. The Manatee County School Board met in regular session with the fol lowing members present: J. Gates, Chairman, and F. WH. Tucker, with W. M. Rowlett, Secretary. The minutes of regular meeting of March 4th, and a special session of March 4th, were read and, on motion, approved. In the matter of paying balance due on the Sandy school building, inas much as the trustees having failed to inspect the building and report to the school board, by motion, a warrant was ordered drawn for $200, in favor of Mr. Riley, the contractor, and the balance of $178 be held back until the trustees make their report. On motion, Prof. W. N. Henderson was granted permission to use the old high school building, after the 19th of June, for the purpose of conducting a summer school. Upon request of Prof. H. J. Kendall, he was given permission to use the Manatee school building for conduct ing a summer training school for tea chers and high grade pupils. Dr. H. Gates, trustee of the Mana tee Junior High School, representing the patrons of said school and citi zens of the town of Manatee, came be fore the Board and submitted the claims of the patrons and citizens re lative to the erection of a more suit able building for school purposes; owing to the absence of one member of the Board action on the matter was deferred. On motion, Mr. Jas. H. Downing was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of trustees for Tyre Creek school. Upon motion, it was ordered that the old Cortez school lot be advertised for sale. By motion, the chairman of the board, and superintendent, were em powered and authorized to make all necessary arrangements for funds to pay salaries of school teachers for the month of March, and to pay contrac tors for labor on the school buildings. The Board then proceeded to audit monthly reports of teachers and mis cellaneous accounts and ordered war rants drawn to pay those approved, as follows: tern mis se Paye, W. H. Turner, teacher H. C.
