He very heorically waited till I was three j hundred miles away before he raised a pen to attack me. Then after two weeks in which time his reverence? the “Ghostly Father,” could be consulted as to what to write, this priestly gush appeared.I have some very, dear friends in the Roman Catholic church and they, like many others, are good people, whom I would be slow to grieve. They mustbe considered as unfortunate in beingin a church which curses all whom she i can not control. It should be no | stumbiingblock to a sensible Catholic to criticise the heresies and sins of the1church. Most of the good people referred to are good naturally',- in spite of the influence of the church, rather than by its assistance, and if thoughtful, they will respect me for voicing my ] convictions. What is the purport of j Mr. Connor’s article? Why, The Menace and myself must be wrong and theRoman Catholic Church must be right because it supports many orphanages, j hospitals, homes for_aged people etc, j In reply to this let me state emphatically that the church does not support these institutions but they rather supr port ifc^and that by the public begging1
