She is seeking to help luT't lf along as a lecturer.•Vwe have seen her. When she wa« :u t!»e city she called on us and tried t,, uvt us to notice her, but we ignored her altogether. She waa only trying to help h'Tself along. I hear that she did deliver a lecture in this city to twelve people. All \ve know of her is that shetried to make our aquaintance.Only a few people in Los Angeles know M Isa Hattie Roee Laube, who says she is engaged to Senator Clark, even slightly* When she and her father came to the city in March they engaged a hall for a lecture to be given at 25 cents admission on March 25. It was a failure and was postponed. Another attempt was announced for April 4, and in order to bring out an audience 2,000 complimentary tickets were distributed. Even this inducement did not insure a crowd to hear Miss Laube talk on ‘‘Human Magnets. In the course of the lecture Miss Laube switched far from her theme for the purpose of saying complimentary things about Mrs. Clark, the Senator’s mother. Hearers wondered somewhat at the extraneous allusion and could not then aae the purpose of it all.
