Mrs. Bethune Ireland, presi dent of the Peninsula volunteers, has announced that Mrs. A. M. G. Russell, a past president of the Peninsula Volunteers and present chairman of California’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Aging, will be representing Cali fornia at a conference of state officials on aging in Washington this month. The conference is designed to assist executives of statewide units for aging toward increased effectiveness in the performance of their responsi bilities and functions. Mrs. Russell also has been in vited by Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, Abra ham Ribicoff, to serve on a 27- member panel of consultants to advise and make recommenda tions on important matters of policy in regard to the many and diverse programs and re sources relating to the well being of older people. This panel will be composed of professional people and others with a career concern in one or more fields of aging along with outstanding lay persons who have publicly demonstrated in terest in aging.
