Two years later, the family came to Johnson county in a covered wagon, driven by a yoke of oxen. They settled on a farm, near what is now the Curtis bridge.When a young girl, her mother (passed away and she then made her home with her brother, Joe, on a farm near the Curtis bridge. It was at this place where she ran the ferry across the river.• .She was united in marriage to Joseph Shupitar, Feb. 22, 1876. They went to housekeeping on a farm, north of Oxford, later to a farm near Ely, and then back to another farm north of Oxford, Mr. and Mrs. Shupitar moved to Oxford 22 years ago.Mr. Shupitar passed away five years- ago.Six weeks ago, Mrs. Shupitar had gone to visit her son, Joseph and family at Iowa City.
