An emissary of Kiel's was captured uear Humboldt yesterday. Among other documents founJ in his possession was the following letter, addressed to the editor of the Pivnttr Press, of St. Paul, date*! Liberty Camp, seventeen miles from Duck Lake. April 8:Sir,—Is it true that American arms and American citizens are to bt, osed against the half breeds ? The Canadian government are trying to crush os with tyrannicil acts. What have the half broods done to provoke American hostility ? What have they done against the spirit of American liberty ? Tl»e desire for freedom is a universal instinct. Why should uot the half breeds of the North-West Teriitories desire to come within its suLsbines? They do so desire, and shall win the smiles of freedom even with the sacrifice of bravo mon's lives. Has the spirit of '70, with its grand memories of courage aud struggles, departed from the American people ? Has liberty uo furtber triumphs to achieve that the American heart has groflrp callous to the whisperings of justice? Ours is'* a battle for homes and human rights, as well as tho just rights of the half breeds of the North West. Jefferson’s sublime sentiment, “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, is a living echo in our hearts. It will guide us from bondage, even as the pillar of dame gnided the scourged of Egypt.
