Dermot ColeKUAC moves frequencyATTN. KENNETH: For thenext few days, KUAC will not be at its normal place on the FM radio dial. v'Instead, Fairbanks’ public radio station will be using its new frequency on the other end of the FM dial, at 89.9, and going by the call letters KUAB.The station had to temporarily switch frequencies because of a problem with its 104.7 transmitter and the link between the studio and the transmitter, said KUAC Operations Manager Jim Schneider. ,The old 104.7 transmitter is located on the hills above Farmers Loop. The new transmitter, 89.9, is on Ester Dome and is much more powerful. KUAC plans to switch to that transmitter permanently later this summer.Schneider said station employees are working on the problem and hope to get back on the air at 104.7 later this week. Before making the permanent switch, the station plans to simulcast on both frequencies for a few months.
