Carroll County Sheriff, William Coghill, announced April 1 that Tony Burns, 23, son of Mrs. Juanita Partlow of Delphi and Mr. Jerry Burns of Flora, will assume the duties as a Carroll County Deputy Sheriff effective April 13. Tony is a 1982 graduate of Delphi Community High Schol. In 1986 he graduated with honors from Ivy Tech with an Associates Degree in Industrial Drafting, and received the Deans Award. He is a 1986 graduate of the 87th Session Indiana Law Enforcement Academy where he placed 4th scholastically in a class of 80. He also received the highest honor in the Firearms Proficiency area recognized by the Academy. He has been certified by the Indiana University Department of Toxicology as a Chemical Test Operator. Tony worked for the Carroll County Sheriffs Depart ment as a Communications Officer from 1982-1985. During this time he held the position of Chief Com munications Officer and IDACS Coordinator. He also served as a Reserve Officer during this period. In 1985 he accepted a position with the Delphi Police Depart ment.
