Shelby-Tennantschool news4-13-87Nine new members will be inducted into the National Honor Society April 23 at 3:15 p.m. at Shelby-Tennant high school. The students are Larry Andersen, Jason Bargenquast, Diane Bintz, Jim Gibson, Steve Hall, Brad London, Mary McCracken, Michael Paul and Robert Paul.The finals in our Woodmen Oration contest were held in the lunchroom after school, Friday. Competing for the two tropies in elementary grades were fifth graders Jill Konz and Eric Kiener and sixth graders Brenda Myers and Brad Stewart. Brad won the first place trophy, with Jill winning the second place trophy.Competing in the finals in junior high were 7th graders Jodie Behrens and Debbie Kiesel and 8th graders Andy Stewart and Traci Kern. Jodie won the first place trophy, while Andy won the second place trophy. These winners will nowcompete in Co. Receiving a perfect score of 35 points were Mary McCracken on her flute solo and Mary McCracken and Traci Kern on their flute duet. Other students who also received I ratings were Andrea Prokupek on her tuba solo, Gina Rau and Galen Barrett on their saxaphone solos, and Allison Evans and Galen Barrett on a sax duet.Instrumentalists receiving II (Excellent) ratings were Corene Peters and Traci Barrett on their clarinet solos, Steve Hall and Galen Barrett ona sax-trumpet duet, and the clarinet trio, performed by Corene Peters, Kay Hundt and Traci Barrett. Receiving Ill’s were Kay Hundt and Allison Evans on their sax-clarinet duet and Kathy Herbst and Andrea Jacobsen on their clarinet-trumpetduet
