LIVERY BARN BURNSWindsor House and Herald Democrat ThreatenedWILL WHALEN’S LIVERY BARNON THIRD STREET DESTROYED BY FIREShortly before one o’clock Wednesdayafternoon fire was discovered in Whalen's livery bam on Third street and the fire alarm was sent in, to which the fire department responded quickly. Before they arrived on the ground however, the bam was enveloped in flames and all hopes of saving it were abandoned and the effort of the fire fighetrs was centeredon saving the adjoining structures, theHerald-Democrat on one side and theWindsor house on the other. In thisthey were partly successful but the Democrat building was badly damaged butthe contents were removed withoutmuch loss, however, a loss in a printing office is always greater than it seems.The building was practically destroyed. The Windsor house avoided severedamage aside from a few broken windows, little injury resulting.The building in which the Herald-Democrat is printed is owned by W. L.Miner and was well insured. The Her-ald-Democrat was offered the assistance of local printers and accepted the assistance of the Journal-World from which office the paper will be issued until it is settled again in a home of its own.
