Senator Clark, of Montana.Whether or no there may be founda-tion to the story of the reported engagement the fact rema ns that the story is in industriouus circulation and is accepted as substantial by the press of the larger cities.Telegraphic requests were received in this city Saturday for photographs of the lady, and half-tones will soon appear in the news columns of a number of big morning dailies.A special telegram in the Minneapolis Times of the 13th inst. is as follows :San Francisco, Friday.—M ss Hattie Rose Laube, of Huron. S. I)., is reported to be engaged to many Senator William'A. Cla^k, of Montana. Miss Laube is said to have stated that thei engagement has been airanged within the past few days by lette:, Senator Clark be ng in Europe. The youngj lady and her father are in San Diego. J Mis3 Laube said: **lt is the custom. 1 know, for persons in a case like this to deny the existence of the engagement, j but for myself—well, I do not care to discuss at this time a report connecting my name with that of Mr. ('lark.
