Mn. Editor*—I believe that I will but give utterance tothe opinion of the solid and respectable menof l’rincu Edward J.-laml, when 1 state that those Annexation sheets, the Charlottetown North Star and the Sum mek'side Prog rest, are n disgrace to our country. 1 ant hapny to learn that the former Inis been excluded troni the catalogue of papers taken by certain of the literary Institutions of Charlottetown. Ill other societies where it is still retained, the Editor would be highly tlattered could he see the withering annotations written upon his contemptible paper. And if it were not impossible lor one w-io has reduced himself to the position of a p inderer to the American nation, to blush, a perceptible crimson mightbo expected to sutfuse the countenance of any Annexation editor, were he permitted to enter good society long euough tu hear its opinion of him,Such barefaced „m1 extraordinary attempts as bavy lately been put forth by the Summer-side Progress to undermine the loyalty of this good Colony, and to tamper with the sound understanding of its pimple, are impertinentand intolerable. This country begs toassuretlie mobof America, through its two agents and representatives, that whatever subsidies it may be in the habit of paying its revolutionary agents here, had better be devoted in future to tiie liquidation of itsgigantic war debt. The nation to which Messrs. Kirwun and Uoss would have this luippy Island joined, is the most shameless and unprincipled underHeaven. Unchecked is the career of passionand licentiousness, and unequaled are the gigantic systems of knavery and corruption found under its Republican rule. Swindling 1 lias there hi come a complicate science, and that science is profoundly studied. Every executive and judiciary department, dependent, as it is, on the will of the mob, is permeated with unbridled corruption. Murder is seldom punished, and a mob of rulllans, armed with the deadliest weapons, can rule for days any great town in the Union. The morals of the Senate, a body which ought to be the most dignified in the nation, may he understood l»y the following extract from the Chicago lhpublican* a paper which, though advocating the cause of the now ruling party, is forced to expose the depravity of its public men:—
