Jos C. Uonchetti, a member of lxcal No. 1170, TT. M. W. of A., at Wilsonville, has composed and compiled the following poem. That this young man has unbounded talent is unquestionable.MANJust like a flower man grows in power,Matured in bloom in councils high, lie plans and draws with human claws,For things of life that live and die,In peace he loves, in war he dares,Ignore the price computes his shares,They call him MAN over land and seaHe’s changed somewhat since infancy. And thus in prime a human kind.Wields power that comprehends His only self. Fostering an aim Just to attain riches and pelf,With learning rare, deep and profound.Onward he strives, conjures and connives,With brawn and brain, for self, for pelf—And transitory gain. And thus his hair has turned a trifle gray. From strains of time that echoed just of yesterday, When youth in robes of deviltry Since too late life’s battle fray.0, strategist of wisdom grandImbibe the wine of true concept For thy ingredients, that of man Unpolluted must be kept.—Joseph C. Uonchetti.
