ALMA MATHER DEADThe community was shocked Tuesday morning to hear that little Alma Mather, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mather, was dead. The shock was all the greater because few knew that she was ailing for she had been in her usual health and happy spirits the day or two before. The Mathers had come over from Sioux Rapids to spend Sunday with grandma Wells and Mr. Mather went home Monday morning little thinking of anything serious. Little Alma has always been affected with a trouble with the glands of her throat and the swelling of these glands caused her death. Because of the location of the trouble however, cultures were sent to Iowa City to be sure that it was not dyphtheria or membranous croup. These cultures proved negative and confirmed the diagnosis of the physicians.Alma was of an affectionate, happy disposition and had passed her third year the twenty-fifth of last February. The funeral will be held at the Wells home this afternoon at two o’clock and at the Methodist Church at half past two. The exercises will be in charge of the pastor, Rev. Lory. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
