GLOVERSVILLE ¢ Charles F. Aldous, 82, of Gloversville, passed away early Thursday morning, April 11, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 9, 1931, in Green wich, he was the son of the late Vernon and Viola (Allen) Aldous. Mr. Aldous served his coun try in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War; he was stationed on the USS Wisconsin honor ably discharged in 1954. He moved from Greenwich to Saratoga in 1957 and moved to this area in 1967. Mr. Aldous was a chief gas mechanic for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., starting with the company in 1956 and retiring in 1990 after more than 34 years of service. Charles loved his family; he was a devoted father and a proud grandfather, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his children, grand children and great-grandchil dren at their sporting events. He was an avid baseball fan, cheering for the Brooklyn Dodgers until their move to L.A. and then rooting for the N.Y. Mets. Charles was very active with Little League Baseball in Glov ersville; he held several terms in office with the organization and was instrumental in the building of the current home at Park Hurst Field. Charles’ hobbies included woodworking and home im provement projects, both at home and with his children. Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brother, Clarence “Duke” Aldous. He is survived by his com panion, Gail Auspelmyer of Gloversville; two sons, Leon ard (Deb Sauber) Aldous of Gloversville, and Lee Aldous of Gloversville; three daughters, Leta Aldous of Gloversville, Leah Aldous of Lawrencev ille, Ga., and Lucinda (Vincent Drapala) Van Dyke of Glovers ville; a brother, Clayton (Ja net) Aldous of Greenwich; two sisters, Ramona (Ralph) Per kins of Greenwich, and Susan (Michael) Hughes of Schuy lerville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the fam ily from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013,at Walrath Stewart Funeral Home, 5] Fremont St., Glov ersville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Burial, with full mili tary honors, will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
