Rock Group in Albright TonightThe rock ensemble of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra will be heard in concert in Albright at 8:30 p.m. Friday.The program, presented by the Lecture-Artist series and the Music Department of the colleges, will be free.Selections will include works by Bach, Faure, Prokofiev, Taylor and Townsend. All arrangements were done by Calvin Custer, associate conductor of the Syracuse Symphony, leader of the rock ensemble. He is also conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Pops orchestra. He will give an informal introduction of each piece,Bach’s works will include his “Brandenburg Concert No. 2 in F” (final movement). The Prokofiev will be “Lieutenant Kije: Excerpts.” Philip MacArthur, English horn,will be heard in Faure’s “Pavane for Orchestra, Op. 50.”Mr. Custer’s own work. “Variations on a Theme” o! William Byrd and Taylor's “Fire and Rain” will be a-mong other selections.Mr. MacArthur, who joined the Syracuse Symphony as first oboist for the 1962-63 season, played under Walter Hendl as a member of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. Other members of the rock ensemble include:George Coble and Daniel Sapochetti, trumpet; Robert Hagreen, French horn; William Harris, trombonist; Jacquelin Howland, pianist: Herbert Flower, percussion; Henry L. Carey, Jr., tympanist, and Angel Sicam, contra bass.
