ROBERT S. HANCHETTRobert Solon Hanchett was bom In Fayette County, Iowa,Oct. 3, I960, a son of Solon W. and Effle May (Harman) Hanchett. Death came Apr. 1, 1972 at the age of 65.. He had attended country school In Fayette county andgraduated from the Randaila high' school In 1924. He was also an Upper Iowa College student for one year.On Nov. 16, 1941, he married Blanche Stiles In Maynard. They had farmed all their married life, first at the Hanchett home place, then on a farm near Oelwcin briefly, followed by some nine years near Waterloo, and for the last 19 years at their present location. He also served many years as a school bus driver, beginning In the days of horsepower and ending with the current season, having worked for the West Central district for over 16 years,Hanchett, a member of the R Randaila United Methodist church, was elected this year as representative of United Methodist Men on the Council of Ministries. A long time brother of the Masonic Order, Robert was affiliated with the Sunnyside Lodge No. 510 in Maynard, as a Past Master, and currently holding the senior warden’s station. He and Mrs. Hanchett have been longtime members of the Fayette Eastern Star Lodge.Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife,a daughter Joyce (Mrs. Zerick) by a previous marriage; a brother Vernon at Randalia; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Ruby) Kitch, Hawkeye and Mrs. Russell (Pearl) Fraser, Des Moines; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services included the last rites of the Masonic Order on Apr. 3 at the Belles- Wright Funeral Home, Fayette, and on Apr. 4 at the Randalia United Methodist church and at the grave site, Grandview Cemetery, Fayette, with the Rev. Donald Gatrelle officiating.
