LM Boy Dies From Pistol Shot WoundA La Marque boy was dead on arrival at Galveston County Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon as a result of a gunshot would in the chest, suffered while handling his father’s revolver.Reginald Palmer, 14, ninth grade student at La Marque Junior High School, was a-lone in his father’s room where the loaded pistol was kept, when his mother and sister heard the shot.Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Palmer, four sisters, Valerie 13, Cindy 12, Karen 10, AmyReggie Palmer8; one brother, Bart 7; all of 4453 Vicksburg St.; and two grandmothers, Hallie Palmer and Marie A. Ward of Norfolk, Va.Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Baptist Church with Rev. B. P. Humble officiating. Burial was in Galveston Memorial Park under direction of Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Paul Barbier, Charles Broker, Wesley Mllmo, Ronald Tucker, O. D. Hand and George Becker.Barbecue, SaturdayThe La Marque Volunteer Fire Department will host the Gulf Coast Firemen’s Assoc. Convention April 15, at the Central Fire Station.
