FUNERAL OF MRS. EMMAMECUM HELD SATURDAY-Emma F. Mecum, daughter of Eli and Alvena Short, was born near Stillwell, 111. July 18, 1876. She was married to B. M. Mecum Oct. 24, 1907. To this union was born one child, Ralph McKinley. Mr. Mecum departed this life Dec. 18, 1921. Mrs. Mecum was a member of a family of seven children, three of whom preceded her in death. Those left to mourn her passing are her son, Ralph, three 'brothers, William, I., Sherman H. and Ralph L. Short, also three stepchildren, J. Elza Mecum, Margaret Woods and Irma A. Edoff.When a girl of eight or nine years she was converted and became a member of the Methodist church and her entire life had been one of devotion to the work of her master.None knew her but to love her and her passing leaves a vacancy in the hearts of her host of friends.The funeral services were held at the Stillwell Methodist church on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a. m., the pastor, Rev. Arthur E. Jern, officiating. Burial was at Sanderson cemetery.
