A Suffrage Society.There was organized in Shreveport on Thursday night a Woman'* Equal Rights Suffrage Society, with Mrs. A. B. Avery as temporary chairman, and an enrollment of seventy members. There was named a nominating committee comprising Mrs. Huyle Tomkies, Mis. W. A. Bailie, Mr?. M. R. Purnell and Mr?. T. M. Comegys. who are to suggest a J.'st of officers from which the permanent organization is to b ; effected.'I he movement for equal suffrage for women, or the enfranchisement of women has been growing ffead-ily. As progressive movements nev-f.v retrograde, it were senseless to offer opposition. Why should not women have the same rights as men to determine who shall he their representatives in the affairs of the gov eminent, local, state, and in tune national? It is recorded lhat wherever women are in public places in I he States where women are enfranchised, they have proven to he efficient and loyal, the equal and in many respects the superiors of men.
