The Congregation of Holy Trinity held a meeting on Wednesday, the principal object of which was to con sider the advisability of carrying out the recommendation of the Vestry Meeting in favor of proceeding at once with the erection of a new church. The decision was favorable, and the design of Mr. Tiedman was accepted. That gentleman has been instructed to prepare the requisite plans and spe cifications, and as soon as these are completed tenders will be invited and the work prosecuted with the utmost vigor. The edifice is to be Gothic in style, 119 feet long by 0 feet withs tie side-walls 20 feet high, and to be built of granite boulders. The pillars of the nave are 2 feet 8 inches in dia meter, octagonal shaped, supporting the arches of the nave. The Chancel is 89 feet long with five windows. The walls inside are to be hard finished. The building will be on the old site or partly so, the end with the bell-tower fronting towards the river instead of the side, as in the case of the old church. As the funds on hand do not quite reach $14,000, it is probable that the entire edifice will not be built in the first instance. We are informed that the granite boulders will produce a very fine effect, presenting a much handsomer appearance than sandstone. The building, when completed, will be creditable alike to the Congrega tion and to the Capital. Tax Inpras Reserves—Now that the labor and bustle of the Session are over it behooves the Government to set about the work of dealing with the Indian Reservations on the Lower Fraser in right good earnest. We can assure the Government that the sub ject is one of no ordinary importance and urgency. There is perhaps no question at the present moment in which the settlers feel a more lively interest, or one which more directly affects the progress of agriculture in this district. There is scarcely a set tler between Harrisonmouth and Pitt River that does not feel a direct as well as a general interest in the early and thorough adjustment of the whole matter of Indian Reservation, and we trust the Executive will carry out the spirit of the Resolution introduced in to the House by the member for New Westminster with that promptitude and earnestness which the importance of the subject demands.
