Meeting.—On Saturday last a meeting of the citizens of Mokelumne Hill and vicinity ■was held ut Sienger llalle, for the purpose of taking steps to prevent the stealing of cattle which has been indulged in to a great extent during the Winter. Mr. A. It. Young, was elected chairman, and C. II. Garland, secretary. The objects of the meeting were briefly stated by Mr. Doak, and the necessity for some action being taken in the matter rendered apparent to all. As the day was a Trtiny one, however, but a few stock owners from a distance were in attendance, and those present did not wish to proceed to extreme measures without a more open expression of public opinion in its favor. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned until Saturday, April ‘20th at 10 o'clock A. M., when it is to be hoped that the citizens of this vicinity will take interest enough in the protection of their property to attend and take part in the proceedings.
