LUBBOCK — The Lubbock Gem and Mineral Society will present their Spring Show on April 15th and 16th, 1978, in the Merchants Building at the Fair Grounds. Great things are planned this year for all those interested in rocks and gems, as well as those interested in beautiful creations from the earth’s resources. Those attending will be able to see materials from all over the world, both in rough and finished gem stones. Materials will be available for purchase from dealers as far away as Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and other states. Also, demonstrators will be showing the art of marble making, sand bottle painting, wire twist jewelry, channel jewelry, silver work, and cutting and polishing of agate, as well as the art of faceting gem stones. Special exhibits will include Tiffany Lamps made from Brazilian Agate, and ‘‘The Old Mill’, made from rock...that really pumps water! Another very unusual exhibit will be the “Rock Xylophone’’, which will be played by its very in teresting creator. Other attractions will include case after case of personal creations and items collected by members of the local Gem and Mineral Club. On Saturday, from 2 till 4 p.m. there will be a “Rock Swap’ for those in terested in exchanging materials. Prizes will be awarded each hour to a lucky number holder, and a grand prize will be given at the end of the show Sunday _ af ternoon...Refreshments will be served by the State School Parent’s Association. The show will begin on Saturday, April 15th at 10 a.m. and will close at 9:00 p.m. Showtime on Sunday, April 16th will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $1.00 for adults and 50 cents for children with proceeds going to scholarships in earth sciences.
