Peter Popieniuck who lives at 211 Mjin Street, Maynard, has been awarded 1 BfOnzb Service Star fo’r battle perticrpation in the Germany War campaigns, He has materially assisted his unit in the completion of all assigned missions Whi'ch has con--tributed greatly in the rout and destruction of the German forces in France.The soldier’s organization has been fighting in Fra'hce since July 2, 1944. The 106th Cavalry Group (Mechanized) participated in the Normandy Campaign and later on the front of iiieute-nant General Alexander M. Patch’s Seventh Army in east ern France.The l06th Cavalry Grb'dp has been spearheading many drives' as a forward reconnaissance force and during l!he Poret de .
