The Phoenix should make a paying mine, as heretofore large quantities of very1° rich ore lias been taken from itsworkings.The old Nlghthnwk mine lias also been through the divorce court, and Is now known as the KUemeliam Mining and Milling company. It Is still under the same local management, and the usual force Is still pushing the big tunnel.It Is understood that Mr. Campbell, of Chicago, and A1 Riste are still sparing on a deal for the Golden Zone mine k i and mill, with every prospect of a sale, i- \ Let us hope so, for the Zone is a good r ' property, and with proper ntanage-y | ment can be made a producer. If there are no setbacks this wil: be a Very lively camp Inside of two months.Those: la - three or four times .more ground broke in the valley this spring than ever before. Some spring grain is already up and looking tine, and all seeding Is very near finished.Last fall a number of the ranchers disked their meadows, and early tills spring went over them with the brush harrow, and already the great improvement can be seen, as the whole valley looks like a well kepi lawn.On account of the mildness of last winter there is a lot of hay left over from last season.Stock is looking better than it usually does at this season of the year. Indeed, some of the eattle are lit for beef. Horses are shedding the old hair fast.Joseph Hunnell, the popular clerk at the Nlghthawk store, look a well deserved rest for a few days during the past week, and with his wife and daughter, Miss Helen, headed for Oro-vllle to enjoy Raster with friends. However, Joe did not take the old cow.Will C. Jones and Thorlow Adair spent Raster as the guests of Mrs. Waldron, at the Phoenix mine.Have McDaniel and Claude Whittle, of Nlghthawk, are among the crew at work at the Phoenix mine.Mr. Johnsim, the new railroad agent at Nlghthawk, Is quite popular among the young ladles of tills place.Under the management of Prof. W. G. Riste, Nlghthawk is having the most prosperous and best conducted term of school the district ever had. Rvery one regrets that we cannot have him next year, but our loss will be Oro-vllle’s gain Prof. Riste is one of those men who can make good in any sphere of life.
