Will McCasland, president of Star Supers, Inc., announced this week that the Jal Star Supers store has been sold to Dave Boyd, owner of B and B Food Market. The supermarket will be closed May 4 after 18 years of opera tion. Ben Alexander, Hobbs bus inessman, originally purchased the store from A. C. Williams, changing the name from Pay Day Store to Alexander’s Super Mar kets. Alexander owned stores in Jal, Eunice and Hobbs. The store was located on the pre sent site of Jal Modern Motors but was moved several years ago to the opposite end of main street. In 1963, Alexander sold the Eunice and Jal stores to three of his key employes; Will Mc Casland, Sam Drew and Rowland Kemp. He had previously sold the Hobbs store, McCasland was named presi dent of the corporation and the store name was later changed to Star Supers. Boyd has operated the B and B Food Market continuosly for 15 years with the exception of clos ing for four months following a fire in November, 1965. Boyd stated that Charles Way bourn, manager of Star Supers, would join the B and B staff in a key position.
