.The bullets that killed “Jew” John Marcus in a vacant house on the old Headgates Road leading off Dixie High way north of town, were fired from a gim taken from Lawrence Coates at Miami, Pla, according to Major Calvin Goddard, ballistic expert. J.C. Calhoun, police chief, today received a letter from Goddard, stating that a gun which he had and which was taken from Coates, Cincinnati and northern Kentucky gang ster, in Florida, was the same weapon from which the bullets were fired into the body of Marcus as he sat trussed up agaist a cellar wall. A prospective tenant Foutd the body of Marcus, noted Cincinnati gangster and racketeer, early in February, he had been dead for several weeks, Coroner Cook said. When Major Goddard stopped here, Chief Calhoun gave him the bullet taken from Marcus’ body and both he and Major Goddard were of the opinion that Coates may have had something to do with the killing. Goddard was given Coates aail when on a visit to Florida. Coates was arrested in Florida under the name of Lawrence Shannon, alias Coates, alias Henderson, for ques tioning in connection with the killing of Jew John Bates at Cincinnatis Major Goddard fired bullets from Coates' gun and com pared them with howe found in Marcus’ barly,
