Philip BVent jWINCHESTER, April XI.—Philip Brent, aged 78;. who served.in the Union cavalry during the four years j of the Civil war, and who as a sol- j di.er in the regular army for tiventy years, fought Indians on -the western plains, was the first' colored veteran ■to be buried in the national cemetery here, his funeral taking place Wednesday afternoon.
