By flashing a bill before the eyes of Constable McDougall, Patrick Mc Glinchy thought he could easily evade the law. Pat was consider ably drunk and was raising more noise than his size warranted out side the Leland hotel, when Cons table McDougall happened along and laid the heavy hand of the law upon his shoulder. Patrick sited up the constable and thought a five-spot would effectually clinch the matter, but the policeman didn't think so. McGlinchy got sore and landed into the constable, and for a while there was a general mixup. When McGlin chy woke up he found himself be hind the bars in a cell and subse quently faced Magistrate Daly on a couple of charges. For the first of fence, that of being drunk and dis orderly, he was fined $5 and costs, and for assaulting the constable,he had to divvy up 825 to the costs, making a total of $34.70.
