— ------PADDLE FORD—At PacificOrove, Calif ^ Thursday, April 4 1895. John Paddle* ]ford, aged 79 years 6 months and 18 ^ days,Mr. Paddleford was born May 22,18rs, * in Chenango Co N* Y. He came to Iowa in 1840, first settling in Deleware county In 1844 he moved to Sperry township, Clayton county, where he improved, and owned at the time of his death, one of the largest and most extensively known farm in Clayton county* In 1858 he married Elizabath Humphrey who was born in England April 6, 18^4. They never had any children. They went to California a few years ago and was so1captivated by the climate there that they have since made their home there. Mr Paddleford was Vice Pres, of the Clayton County Old Settlers Association continu ally from its organization. He was heldlvarious offices of trust always discharg* iug his duty faithfully, without fear or 1 favor. He had been in poor health for some time and his friends here were not surprised to hear of his death.
