Dublin Man ExhibitsSheepdog Trials Big SuccessThe Texas Sheepdog Trial held at Mozelle, Saturday, April 2, was hailed abig success as amateur and professional stockdog trainers from all over Texascame to compete for the seven coveted awards. Contestants couldn't haveasked for and received a«more beautiful day to have their best sheepdogs demonstrate their natural instincts and abilities which have been perfected through many hours of instruction.Dublin' s own Henry Spurger exhibited his popular dog 44Tio” in the main event, racking up 39 points, only 6 points behind the grand champion. “Tio” has become quite a threat to sheep dog trainers across the U. S. Drawing what was probably the five wildest sheep of the hundred delivered to the grounds, “Tio” moved with the caution of the slyest fox, pushing the sheep only a few inchds at a time, when necessary, to avoid flushing them and causing them to leave the predetermined course. In the eyes of this writer and many spectators, “Tio” put on the most brilliant of allperformances.Winners in the 4‘Open event were Preston Robinson, San Saba, Texas with “Sweep”, First; Pope Robertson, Elgin, Texas, with “Gail”, Second; Pope Robertson with “Lash HI”, Third. The Winners Circle of the “Open Ranch” class found Bob Childress, Ozo-na, Texas with “Ben”, First; Bob Childress with “Nan”, Second; David Sargent with “Rory”, Third.
