E. Macdonald's exhibit. His portrait of “Jean” is a fine picture, and one of the best in the show. It is true in color, modelling, and tone, and finely drawn. A feature is made of the large blue silk collar of the lady's cloak. This passage is well rendered, and adds much to the artistic interest of the painting. By, the way. Mr. Macdonald is well-known on the Mac-leay, being a landholder interested to an extent in swamp country, and some time ago contributed an illum.nating article on contour drainage.ANNA KARENINA.Imperial Russia—most brilliant court in the world—with the most beiut»ful women, the most dashing officers—all
