Gertrude Gaylord, Oak Park Sun day School Teacher, Missing Since Rector’s Visit. Gertrude Gaylord, 25, Sunday school teacher at St. Martin’s Church in Austin, has been missing for a week. Prior to her disappearance, the Rev. R. H. Fortesque Gairdner, 60 years old and former rector of the parish, visited Austin. Samuel Gaylord, 915 N. Central Jv., father of the missing girl and mem ber of the church vestry, admitted last night that he had heard his daughter married the former pastor, GIRL LEAVES NOTE. She left a note intimating that she was to meet Dr. Gairdner, the father said, but he refused to divulge its contents. Dr. Gairdner called at the office of the Austin Express Storage Company last week and ordered his trunk, which was stored there, sent to a Chicago terminal. The claim check was mailed to him at general delivery, in Chicago. PASTOR ARRESTED ONCE, Dr. Gairdner gained wide publicity in the Summer of 1916 when he was arrested in a Detroit case with Anna Stearns, Chicago’s “mystery girl.” He undertook to save the girl from her wayward ways, he said, and took her into the parish house. Some time later she left and soon after ward Dr. Gairdner followed her. Their arrest in Detroit followed. Dr. Gairdner resigned the parish rectorship last November. He has since made his home at Niles, Mich.
