At the South Georgia College. There were some interesting exercises at the South Georgia College yesterday. The following Was the programme: Song by the school. Speech—Carl “Folsom — “The Demand of the People.” Reading—Artie Patten—“The: Queen of Palmyra.” Reading—Edward Lake—‘The Curse of Laban.”’ Recitation—Florence Carman— ‘Farmer Tompkins and the Cy clopee.”’ Reading—John sontponney ‘‘Death of J. Q. Adams.” Speech— Will Hambleton Marullua to the Roman Popu lace.” Recitation — Viva Patten “Marie and I.”’ Speech—Herbert Hawthorne. Song by the school. A “souvenir sociable’ .was given by Miss Cora. Hagood, of Washington street, on Thursday, evening, and it was a very en joyable affair. Vocal and instru mental music, and games made the evening pass quickly and de lightful refishments were served. Mrs. Lessie McDougald chaperon ed the party and filled ‘that posi tion.very creditably.Among those present were: Misses Lizzie. Carroll, Eunice Watkins, Annie Whealan, Berta Cochran, Mamie Parker, Gussie Carroll, and Mesare, Mike Edwards, R. R. Perry, C. E. ‘McNamara,’ Berry Edwards, I. A. Banks, H. P. . Bouchelle, Ernest Groover and John Mitchell. Ail present thoroughly enjoyed the evening and unanimously ‘agreed that Miss Hagood makes a charming hasteas.
