Richmond, April 8. (4)—Leaders in the movement for the celebration of the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Surrender of Cornwallis, to night described the event as one for the cure of the spiritual, pat riotic, and political ills of a peo ple, in a meeting which brought the announcement of the official program for the first three days of the four-day celebration begin ning October 16, at Yorktown. The program in brief includes a “Colonial Day,” a “Revolutionary day,” “God and the Nation Day, and the final “Surrender Day” with a comprehensive pageant that will depict the story of the histor ical events leading from the colo nization of Virginia, to indepen dence of a nation. The celebration will be opened with the dedication of the Colo nial National Monument, including Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown, and it will be closed with the address by President Hoove,, who yet is to officially accept the part of the program in which he is to personally participate. Harold C. Bryant, of the Nation al Park Service, representing Di rector Horace Albright, and Dr. W. A. R. Goodwin, representing the Yorktown Sesquicentennial Asso ciation, Inc., were the principal speakers. Other speakers were O ver J. Sands, John Stewart Bryan, John M. Miller, and Thomas B. McAdams, of Richmond, and Wil liam E. Carson, Virginia commis sioner of conservation and devel opment.
