The Circus, French Co.’s show will be here April goth. “The New Orleans Picayune says of it: “The last tent of French's Circus was packed last night from the ring edge to the top seats with an appreciative audi ence which had assembled to witness the grand performance tendered by French Co.’s Mammoth Circus and Menagerie as a benefit to the New Orleans Lodge of Elks, Messrs. John Davenport and Jesse Brown acted as ring-masters, and Mr. W. H. Quinnette as clown, was inimitable and kept his audience in constant laughter with his quaint sayings and comic songs. Mr. Charles Howitte, with his clown song “Bold McIntyre,” brought down the house. There was the usual bareback riding, trapeze performance, juggling and, in fact, all the clever acts which tend to make a circus a real circus. Cleopatra, the trained elephant, did some clever tricks and was ably managed by her trainer, Mr. Harry Reed. Petit and McVey thrilled the audi ence with daring flying trapeze acts. Miss Inez Palmer displayed some wonderful moral tenacity in her iron jaw act, and Mr. John Ames twisted and intertwisted himself several times in his challenge
