]l,\.\’k Uoaiw.—It is contemplated to make a plank road from Rome in New Fork to Turin, and 550,000 lias been subscribed for that purpose. A plank road is already completed front Syracuse to Getides, and on some other short routes in that neighborhood, At the recent session of the Legislature of Michigan, several companies weio chartered for constructing pliuik roads in different parts oi that State. Wherever they have been tested, these j roads liave fully met the anticipations of those engaged in their construct ion.We would like to have our neighbors try the experiment of making charcoal roads on some of the principal thoroughfares leading from this city. The only question to be settled is. us to their cost. That they are fullyequal to plank roads wo fully believe, and have this advantage, that when once constructed, they last tor ages, without renewing or repairs. 'They are said to be as cheap, and have j this advantage in a new and heavily limbered ! country, ihcy cost nothing tor materials. Let ! it be tried on some of the bad places on the , Mukwonago road for an experiment, and sec ’ if at the next session of the Legislature we j can’t got a company chartered to carry it ^ through. i
