O’Neil, and A. A. Bird, two of the commissioners then at Madison, of ivhich the following is a copyGknt.:—Under a joint resolution of the Council and House of Representatives, (he undersigned have been, appointed a committee to investigate the proceedings of your hoard, in relation to the erection of the public buildings at Madison, and we therefore request you to furnish us at a meeting to be held at the Council Chamber to-morrow evening, first with a detailed statement of all the expenditures from the commencement of your duties, to the period, when the contract for the completion of said buildings was made with James Morrison, together with vouchers showing the amount, and to whom payments were made:2d, The several proposals made for the erection of said buildings, and the contract entered into with James Morrison, or any other person, for furnishing materials, or for the construction of the buildings.”On the 12th instant, A A.
