Twenty-two new books were received at Jal Public Library during the month of March according to Mrs. C. A. Boyd, librarian. Eleven new magazines were also added to those available at the library. Activity at the public library for March included circulation of 674 books. Juveniles checked out 256 and adults accounted for 418. Daily average of books checked out was approximately 34. In addition, the librarian assisted 32 patrons with reference and research work involving 97 books, 15 magazines and one map. Jal Public Library had 78 of the books, magazines and map. Nineteen books were requested and received from State Library in Santa Fe and Southeastern Regional Library in Lovington. Mrs. Boyd reported an increase of 21 registered borrowers in March. Books were donated to the Library by Mrs. James Kennedy, Iris Roberts and Charles E. Brown. Mrs. Boyd said that Brown also did some work on the children’s shelves. Magazines were donated to the library by Jo Beth Trice. Mrs. Boyd said that she was especially happy to receive from Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fink back issues of The Jal Record from 1956 through 1970, and a file of Jal Flares including some issues from 1938 through 1947, The Congressional Record (Continued on Page 6)
