Israel, U.S. Waive Tourist Visa FeesNEW YORK — Israel and the United States have reciprocally abolished visa fees for tourists, passengers in transit and temporary residents.Pilgrims and tourists to Israel for Passover and Easter will be the first to benefit from this new agreement. Five thousand foreign visitors are expected in the landof the Bible during this holidayseason.Last year tourism to Israel reached a new high with 38,661 visitors touring the country, 36 per cent of whom came from the United States.In addition to waiving the visa fee, Israel has allocated $900,000 for tourism this year, a fivefold increase in her budget, aimed at attracting more tourists. A total of$650,000 will be spent on the construction of new hotels and the renovation of others. About $175,-000 will be spent on the improvement of historic sites and another$75,000 for the construction of youth hostels.oIIt
