rt-tle;es-ta i tenaIlorla-80LFThe following is the address of the President read at the annuai meeting of the golf club Friday evening : Gentlemen of the Lindsay golf club : I have to congratulate you onanother successful year. It is now five years since the club was organized iniC. 1905 and we have the largest mem-all bership and the smallest liabilities of •ue 1 any year since the organization. Our■y j liabilities when we commenced the! season were $234.30, at its close $33.-gh j 08. One item, the purchase of a rollerit. paid for in 1909 is available-for fur-jn ther use. There was some confusionn_ j as to-the liabilities or.there would jf have been no balance against us. I an j thought everything fcad been squaredhe j up*The club owes much of the successof 1909 to our lady members whonot only extended the club house, but ( cleared it of all debt, c They are ’ i entitled to the gratitude of the clubleby improving the social side-of ourx-uta-inin:ttoa-as1-r-r-iyclub. The teas supplied by the ladies were a delight to the members, and added very much to the enjoyment. I would recommend the * en-gagement of a thoroughly competent man for the months of May, June July and August, who would devote his whole time 1 to the improvement of the greens and to rolling and cutting the grass. The pond behind the house should be drained and a portton of the western end should be cleared of the swamp grass. The flat in the front field should be drained and the town and townsh p of Ops should give us an outlet either by putting in a culvert or repairing the one already in, that is so t- j much out of repair that it is useless r- f A committee should be appointed to select another golf ground in the event of the present links in order that the grounds may be in good condition when our present lease expires. The fences should be moved to the lines agreed upon, and if it be practicable the water must be drained off the low land in front of the green at the dan hole. I also recom-t \ mend the appointment of a committe• h Ito prepare a draft of a set of bylaws, rules and regulations of the club. I called upon Mr. McKenzie, the official in charge of the Ontario Department of Agriculture in Lindsayand he has very kindly agreed to go over our grounds with the green com mittee and give them the benefit of his advice with respect to the prop^ mode to drain the low places and the best way to level the grounds and. also the best seed to use and mode-of seeding so as to have a good firm and level sod.All of which is respectfully submit-j ted.idl-lt;0eedyT1-fnnI * A_____
