Charles Beeken is also bound over. His brother Winn pleaded guilty before District Judge Grave* and was sentenced to four years at hard labor. Winn Beeken will b# taken to Lincoln. Charles Beeken and Fred Kelso will be taken to the Douglas county jail until the spring term of court, which convenes AprilW. J. MeEathron of Washington, D. C., will act as consulting engineer for the Eikhorn River Drainage District at Fremont. He has looked over the proposed plans and is of the opinion that it can be satisfactorily handled by the local engineer. Mr. A. H. Norris, and the board of directors. He will take no part in preparing the plans and specifications, but will inspect them before active operations are begun. At present he is employed in government work at Keokuk, la.Fremont citizens have been fighting the bill for the purchase of the Wayne Normal school since it was introduced and have not given up though nothing hut the governor’s signature remains to make it a law. The Fremont Normal has always been self-sustaining and it is felt that with the Wayne school a state institution it will lose much patronage. The committee lias not given up the fight and Fremont people are yet in hope that Governor Shallenberger will interpose his veto.Sheriff Dunkel arrived at Sal in a.
