O Uoonor earing nuw. aow interment was m the Oatnolic cemetery beside hia wife who departed this life sixteenyears ago, , n .Mchaei Mahon was born in Dublin,Ireland, about eighty years ago. lu his youth he came to this country, and when the civil war bioke out he was located in Illinois* auu enlisted in a regiment from that buau,.^ be was a brave soldier, and served early four years, during that time receiving a wound that caused the losei ot an eye. At the end of that conflict he was given an honorable discharge and fjr a number of year* bas received a pension or $24jier month.While in Illinois he was married, and to this union was born a son, Charles who is * resident of flew Hampton. Some yeare after the war be came to Iowa, and for many years he has been' a resdent ot Oelwein.Until incapacitated by advanced age he was employed as a laborer, and since he baB been unable to do manual labor his pension has been hisi means of support. Since the death of his wife in 1892 he has made bis home nearly all the time with Mr. and Mrs. Jamee Cannon.
