Little reliance, however, can be Tplaced on old subscriptions or other unpaid dues, such as the $33 05 above.The Society is also in debt to the Parent Society, on the $140 82 of assets from last year, perhaps the full amount of cash on hand, $52 20. This leaves to the Society $146 70 of clear assets for the future, against the $140 82 of nominal as-AwwStsets with which the year began. That is, the voluntary contributions have paid off the old debt, say $52 20, met all the gra- j ^ tuitous distribution, about 185 books, and]Ileft $5 88 in books in the depository. | The wants of the ensuing year, then, must be met again by voluntary contributions. Who will aid in this good work ?i]Any sum, however small, makes the con- j i tributor for one year a member of the So-IIectety and a co-worker with God, in en-]lightening and saving the world. The ! sum of $5, paid at once, constitutes the j o payer a member for life.
