Edward Smith BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. Funeral services for Edward T Smith, 75 years old, Omaha, Neb., former Baxter Springs area resident, who died Wednes day at the Veteran’s hospital in Omaha, will be at 10 o’clock Saturday morning in the Schur man chapel. The Rev. Jacob Jernigan will officiate. Burial will be in the Baxter Springs cemetery. Born March 2, 1892, in Gaines ville, Mo., Mr. Smith was a vet eran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lydia Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Jack England of Jupitin, Mrs. Clinton McDonald of Omaha and Mrs. Oliver Boyland of Omaha; two sons, Arnold Smith and David Smith, both of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Lilly Dennington of Stockton, Calif.; a brother, Loys Smith of the state of Missouri, 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Minnie Highland MIAMI, Okla. — Mrs. Minnie Yona Highland, 73 years old, 314 West Central street, died at 8:45 o'clock Thursday morning in a Miami rest home. She was born September 6, 1993, in Salem, Mo., and was a longtime resident of the Miami area. Mrs. Highland was a mem ber of the First Christian church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Royal Neigh bors and was formerly active in the American Red Cross. Her husband, William H. Highland, preceded her in death in 1941. Survivors include three sons, Dr. John E. Highland, Miami, William D. Highland, Tulsa, Okla,, and Dr. Robert C. High land, Emporia, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. G. B. John, Jefferson City, Mo.; a half brother, Perry Wat kins, Jackson, Miss.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be an nounced by the Cooper funeral home of Miami. The family will receive friends at the home of a son, Dr. John %. Highland, 11 H street, North west. Contributions may be made to the First Christian church. Mrs. Ida Walker COMMERCE, Okla.—Mrs. Ida Mae Walker, 85 years old, of 416 North Quincy, died at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Mi ami Baptist hospital. She is survived by four sons, the Rev. Roy Walker of River ton, Kar; George Walker of Picher; Jesse Walker of Baxter Springs, Kan.; Dee Walker of Miami; four daughters, Mrs. Josse Cantwell of Riverneck, Calif., Mrs. Deada Pridemore of Pleasant Hills, Calif., Mrs. Lela Morrison of Commerce, and Mrs. Beula Coats of Commerce; 34 grandchildren, 79 great-grand children, and five great-great grandchildren. Arrangements will be an nounced by the Jim Thomas fu neral home of Commerce. Mrs. Belle Z. Foote NEOSHO, Mo. — Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Z. Foote, 100 years old, 315 West Sherman street, who died at 8:05 o’clock Wednesday night at Elmhurst in Webb City, will be at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Clark chapel. The Rev. Paul White will officiate. Burial will be in the J.C.C.F. cemetery in Neosho. Mrs. Foote was born Novem ber 16, 1866, in Tupelo, Miss., and had been a resident of Neosho since 1920. She was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include a son, Her man Foote, Grove, Okla.; four granddaughters and eight great grandchildren, Mrs. Minnie Miller CARTHAGE, Mo. — Services for Mrs. Minnie E. Miller, 91 years old, 812 Walnut steel, who died Thursday, will be at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Knell mortuary. An Eastern Star service will be held at the chapel. The Rev. E. A. Neimeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. She was a lifelong resident of the Carthage vicinity. She was born September 15, 1875, west of Carthage, Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Young. She was married October 4, 1896, in Carthage to William H. Miller, who died in 1937. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Rebekah lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine and the Madison Township Community Club. Surviving are a son, Roy Miller of Ventura, Calif., and a daugh ter, Mrs. Nellie Staples of Quin cy, Al. H. Kie Bayless SENECA, Mo. — H. Kie Bay less, 60 years old, died at 8:35 o'clock Thursday morning at Freeman hospital, Joplin. He was born August 28, 1906, in Lawrence County, and had been a resident of the Seneca area for the past two years. Mr. Bayless was a member of the Seneca Methodist church and was a farmer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Irene Bayless; four sons, Harold Bayless, Seneca, Samuel Bayless and Carl Bayless, Hutchinson, Kan., and Charles Bayless, Pueblo, Colo., eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be an nounced by the Housh ~- Biddle come funeral home of Seneca. Wade E. Tennis GALENA, Kan. ~— Funeral services for Wade E. Tennis, 46 years old, 816 Euclid avenue, who died at 9:15 o’clock Wednesday night at Freeman hospital, Jop lin, will be at 2:30 o'clock Sat urday afternoon in the First Bap tist church in Galena. The Rev. Charles Walker and the Rev. Si las McMurray will officiate. Burial will be in the Hill Crest cemetery, Galena. Pallbearers will be Floyd Wade, Roy Wade, Neal Wade, Olin Wade, Oral Wade and Frank Dillon. The body will be taken to the home at 816 Euclid avenue at 3 o'clock this afternoon and will be in state there until 11 o’clock Saturday when it will be taken to the church. Augustion Kauble LIBERAL, Mo. — Services for Augustion (Ted) Kauble, 86, who died Wednesday, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Bruce-Konantz chapel at Lamar with the Rev. Eugene Rooney of ficiating. Burial will be in Bar ton cemetery at Liberal. Friends will be at the Bruce-Konantz chapel from 7:30 o'clock until 8:30 o'clock tonight. Mrs. Emma McIntire BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. — Services for Mrs. Emma McIn tire, 93, who died Wednesday night, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Jacob Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel ceme tery, north of Galena, under di rection of the Purdy - Wene fu neral home. Leland Heriford JANE, Mo. — Funeral serv ices for Leland (Lee) Heriford, 68 years old, who died at 6:30 o’clock Wednesday night in Springdale Memorial hospital, Springdale, Ark., will be at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the White Rock school, in Jane. The Rev. Roy Acehurst will of ficiate. Burial will be in Jane cemetery under the direction of the Ozark funeral home of Pine ville. Mr. Hertford was born Decem ber 20, 1898, in Princeton, Mo., and had been a resident of the Jane area for the past 23 years, moving here from Springfield, Mo. He operated a service sta tion and cafe in Jane. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Heriford; three sons, Charles Heriford, Spring dale, Robert Heriford, Lansing, Mich., and Wayne Heriford, Richmond, Wash.; and a daugh ter, Mrs. Helen Cooper, Jane.
