Sixty yers ago tliere was a settlement of colored people in Greenfield township, Gallia county, a mile or two up the creek from the place where Gallia Furnace is now located. There resided old James B. Stewart, a Baptist preacher.The man mentioned in the following article, taken from a Nashville paper, is a *on of Mr, Stewart:Itev. Thomas N. Stewart, D. D., M. D., of Virginia, an able educator, is now in charge of the farm at the Manual Labor University, and is President of the educational department. He will organize a graded school as soon as the proper preparations can he made and the necessary funds raised. The co-operation of our citizens, white and colored, is earnestly solicited. All correspondence in the interest of the farm and university should he addressed to Dr. Stewart. No. 92 south Summer street. Nashville.
