The inquest of Jose Carrillo, alias Joe Celecio, who was murdered in a Chinee Alley Sunday night, was held yesterday afternoon by Coroner Hathaway, and verdict given of death caused by “stabbing by an unknown instrument.” Further investigation is being made today by the district at torney. Carrello was stabbed to death in Chinee Alley Sunday night shortly be fore 10 o'clock by someone whom as yet, the police have been unable to identify. They have arrested three men suspected of being implicated in the murder but all the authorities can get out of them is that they fought with Carrillo on two occasions, but did not kill him. Mrs. Carillo, wife of the dead man arrived in Oxnard last night to take care of her husband's remains. It is said she left him on account of his ex cessive use of liquor. Gaspar Garule, a barber of Saviers road, was called to testify at the in quest yesterday while he was working on a customer. he was obliged to leave his patron with his face half covered with soap while he went to the undertaker’s establishment. Here he told Coroner Hathaway that he had known Carillo for many years and had always found him of fine character. Garulo knew him in San Diego and said he had lived here two months while working at St. John's hospital. It was learned that Carrillo had been taken in by the Sisters at San Diego when he was 1( years of age and had been educated by them for the past 20 years. He is now 40. He specialized in art and was said to have been a fine painter when sober.
